Crackling Glaze
Aged oil based paints dry out in particular when exposed to direct sunlight. The appearance over time is an old aged crackle. Decorative artists can now achieve this effect by using Crackling Glaze.
Crackling Glaze is a flat transparent acrylic base glaze, which is applied on preferably sealed surface. When is completely dried any latex paint or oil-based paint is applied over the Crackling Glaze and after the paint is cured, the crackling effect will appear.
The pattern of cracks is controlled by type and thickness of paint and method of application. Good uniform cracks can be achieved by using roller in one direction.
